My Last Day in Asia πΈπ¬
The Marina of Singapore
July 2019: Farewell to Asia
In July 2019, I officially concluded my posting in Thailand as the Regional Emergency Response Coordinator for Southeast Asia. It was a role filled with challenges, rewards, and unforgettable experiences, and while I was excited about what lay ahead, leaving Asia was undeniably bittersweet.
A Stop in Singapore
On 14th July, after leaving Bangkok, I arrived in Singapore for my final day in Asia. The city welcomed me with its trademark tropical warmth and a sunny, pleasant day—perfect for exploring and reflecting. I spent the day walking through Singapore’s iconic streets, taking in its mix of modern architecture, vibrant culture, and green spaces.
Singapore, with its energy and innovation, felt like the perfect place to mark the end of my Southeast Asian journey. Strolling through places like the Marina Bay Sands area, Gardens by the Bay, and its bustling markets gave me a sense of closure—letting me savour one final day in this incredible region.
Departure to Europe
On 15th July, I flew from Singapore to Warsaw, leaving Asia behind. The excitement for my upcoming holidays in Europe and the new chapter awaiting in Panama and the Americas kept my spirits high. It was a mix of emotions: gratitude for the past and anticipation for the future.
Reflecting on the Journey
As my plane soared above Singapore and Asia faded into the horizon, I couldn’t help but feel immense gratitude for everything this part of the world had taught me. The people I met, the communities I worked with, and the experiences I lived will always hold a special place in my heart.
This wasn’t just the end of a posting—it was the end of a deeply transformative chapter in my life. But as one chapter closes, another begins, and I looked forward to what awaited me with a sense of optimism and curiosity.
