Autumn Holiday in Ontario 🇨🇦
Toronto, Canada, November 2021
In November 2021, I travelled to Toronto to visit Tahir, Paula, Ruth, and their children, celebrating my birthday in the company of dear friends. It was a wonderful trip, made even better by the perfect autumn weather, which allowed me to fully enjoy Ontario’s spectacular fall colours.
Exploring Ontario – From Cities to Countryside
While based in Mississauga, where Tahir lives, he took the time to show me around different parts of Ontario. Together, we explored:
• Hamilton – A city known for its waterfalls, historic sites, and growing arts scene. The mix of urban renewal and natural beauty made it a fascinating place to visit.
• Vaughan – A dynamic city just north of Toronto, known for its diverse communities, shopping, and entertainment options.
• Wasaga Beach & Blue Mountains – Even in November, these destinations were stunning. The crisp air, peaceful shorelines, and rolling hills of Blue Mountains made for a relaxing and scenic day trip.
• Toronto – Of course, no visit to Ontario would be complete without time in Toronto itself—a city that never loses its energy and charm.
• Belfountain – A hidden gem in the countryside, where we enjoyed quiet trails, scenic viewpoints, and the golden colours of autumn leaves.
A Heartwarming Visit to Otterville and Norfolk
With Paula, Ruth, and their family, we travelled to Otterville and Norfolk, where we met Paula’s mum, her husband, and her uncle. This visit was particularly special, as it gave me a deeper glimpse into Paula’s family and their inspiring work.
In Norfolk, we visited Titan Trailers, the factory owned by Paula’s uncle, a business that goes far beyond just manufacturing. Titan Trailers is well-known across the Americas and beyond, but what impressed me most was the social impact of the company. Paula’s uncle sees his business not just as a source of income, but as a way to give back to the community.
The company actively supports vulnerable groups, including refugees arriving in Canada, helping them integrate into their new home. Speaking with Paula’s uncle and learning about his values of generosity and responsibility was truly inspiring.
Fort Erie and Niagara Falls – A Perfect Finale
Another highlight of the trip was visiting Fort Erie and Niagara Falls.
• Fort Erie – A historic town by the US-Canada border, home to the old fort that played a key role in the War of 1812.
• Niagara Falls – No matter how many times one visits, the sheer power and beauty of the falls never cease to amaze. Standing by the thundering cascades, surrounded by the crisp November air, was a perfect way to wrap up the trip.
A Birthday Filled with Gratitude
More than just a holiday, this trip was about reconnecting with people who mean so much to me. The warmth of Tahir, Paula, Ruth, and their family, combined with Ontario’s natural beauty and meaningful experiences, made it a birthday to remember.
I left Canada feeling grateful—for the people in my life, the places I had the chance to explore, and the moments that make life truly special. 🍁
